Hey Alex,

Great talk as always! I found it to be an accessible intro to a topic that was barely covered in my bachelors. I know you've got your work planned out for the future, but do you have any further comments or reading on this topic:

"However, it sharply limits the range of valid economic questions. If you’re studying things in terms of payment flows and asset values, there’s no way to do a lot of the kinds of Freakonomics stuff that’s been really popular for a long time. Personally, I see this as a feature and not a bug. The legacy of Gary Becker and economics imperialism is not one that it is worth sacrificing empiricality to retain, but that’s just me."

The last sentence seems to contradict the rest of the paragraph, but I think I might be reading it wrong.

oh i'm being flip. "if you want to save freakonomics and gary becker, you have to sacrifice empiricism. seems like a bad deal to me." that said, i would recommend going to check out perry mehrling on this!
